If you're planning on getting married - congratulations! St John's hosts a number of weddings each year, & our Worship Area provides a warm, comfortable & modern setting for the ceremony.

We're here for you

Whether you'd prefer a traditional or more contemporary style service, we'll do our best to meet your needs. With a modern PA, screens for song words, slides or video clips, toilets with baby changing, & a flexible space which can seat 0-200 people, we hope to be able to accommodate most requests!

If you'd like to come & look around the building, that can easily be arranged - do just get in touch.

You may find is a helpful website to visit as you make your preparations together.

The service

By law, all church weddings will have Banns of Marriage read out in the weeks leading up to the wedding day. Banns are read out at our 10am Sunday service for three consecutive weeks, usually during the month prior to the wedding.

You'll need to fill in & return to us one of two different Banns Application Forms. If you're getting married at St John's, you'll need to fill in this form; if you're getting married elsewhere but live in the parish of St John's, you'll need to fill in this form.

Don't forget, banns must be read in the parishes of churches where you each live, & where you're getting married.

The cost of a wedding service at St John's starts from £555.00 (as of March 2023). This includes obligatory costs (as set by the national Church of England) for the service, the marriage registration document, publishing banns, & a verger on the day, who will help to ensure everything in the church building runs smoothly on your big day.

Additional costs may include fees for an organist or extra musicians, printed service sheets, a PA technician, flowers & so on, but we'll happily discuss what you feel you need for the day.

Fees for the publication of banns & a banns of marriage certificate (if getting married in another church) are set by the national Church of England, and currently cost £51.00 (as of March 2023).
